As you may know in the construction industry, it is a balancing act between embracing a location’s history while implementing all of the modern day conveniences. Playing on this tug of war between old and new perfectly describes one of our latest Equinox remodeling projects.

Located on Pine Street, the old 1915 Pacific Coast Stock Exchange Building sits in the historic Financial District in San Francisco. Before it became the iconic Equinox location it is today, the building was immersed in a financial background dating all the way back to 1882. As the digital age took over, the financial chapter of this building closed in 2002; a short while later, the building was sold to private developers.

Equinox then decided that this location would be a perfect fit for their customers, as they embraced the building’s historic architecture and culture. It is hard to miss the front steps of the grand granite staircase that leads up to ten Tuscan columns designed with Art Deco flair. With a mural by Diego Rivera and locker rooms in the original safe vault, this Equinox location sought to guarantee that it would make its mark on the local San Franciscans.

Equinox believes in having the best for their customers, so it was time for an upgrade of the fitness facilities. They knew they could count on JRB to deliver. This particular project was tricky because they needed to have the gym operational during the entire remodeling process. JRB was up for the challenge. To ensure that Equinox customers were not disturbed, all of the work was completed during late evening and early morning hours.

Now, this location really can shine with fully remodeled:

  • Steam Rooms
  • Men and Women’s Locker Rooms/Bathrooms
  • Men and Women’s Showers
  • Juice Bar
  • Yoga Studio
  • Strength Studio
  • Stretch Area

For over 20 years, Equinox has created an unparalleled experience that engages members in fitness and wellbeing, delivering transformative results. Equinox helps transform bodies while we help transform places.
